Do the Beryllium single coils have pole pieces?

Postby Palbroman » Mon Feb 11, 2019 12:02 pm

The subject says it all.
The new Delos models in the gallery are depicted with single coils with pole pieces and they are according to the specs equipped with beryllium single coils.
At the same time a couple of the in stock Solos are also equipped with beryllium singles, but they are depicted without pole pieces like the s60 pickups.
I hope someone can shed some light on the matter.

The Beryllium single coils do have covers like the S60. I don't know how they differ (if they do) on the inside. I know with basses, they did change a name of a pickup or two to align with more the more modern naming convention, so it wouldn't suprise me...but I'm not sure either way. I've meant to ask during a Q&A, but never think of it at the right time when I actually catch the streams when live.

I asked this question awhile ago and this was the response:

"The Beryllium pickups do not have pole pieces when mounted without a pickguard, with a pickguard they will have exposed poles".

That's a special way of doing it but if that's the case the pictures make sense.

Huh...interesting. I hadn't seen that before. i wonder if it's built like the Lithium, or like an S60 with holes?

These look like they have adjustable pole pieces, so I'd think more like the Lithium singles. They probably don't cover them in pickguards for fit issues.

Could be. Although, the S60s were the standard pickups in the Bolt.

Why in the world would they do this? Can't they just make a normal-looking single coil?
