Kiesel Vader 2015 4th string issue

Hi guys,

I bought I Kiesel Vader in great condition from Reverb. I own an 8 string Zeus so I am familiar with this types of guitars. I went in to try and change the strings to Elixir Optiwebs 10-56 and encounter an an issue while putting the the D string (4th) in place. That particular string is a .032 and just won't go in the whole at the nut. Is there a limit to the gauge string in this position. I mean a .032 is pretty common, so I am not sure if I am doing something wrong. Any help will be appreciated as I am almost certain that there is an issue with the nut hole.

There are some very knowledgeable individuals on this board who I’m sure will be able to help. But in the mean time I can tell you my zm8, zm7, and dcm7 all came with .024 on the 4th string and .032 on the 5th string. I ordered .009-.042 from the factory with .062 and .074 on 7th and 8th strings respectively.

My dc7x is 10-59 with the4th string .026 and 5th string.036

Yes I hear ya, My normal 8 string is .030. It might be a limit issue, Let see if anybody can chime in!

Do you have the D string that was on the guitar before you swapped it out? You can compare that one to your new one. You might be able to tell there's a slight width difference. You can get a nut file and try to widen the slot yourself, or have a luthier widen the slot.
