When ordering an Option 50 Build

Postby Mike Jones » Thu Jan 28, 2016 9:04 am

Do not place your order online and then assume that you can call in and have us modify the order.
Option 50s can only be put on an order by a sales guy/gal.
If you want something that you've heard of that we don't officially offer, then you must call your order in.

Makes sense to me. Assuming is pretty much always bad.
I mean, this is a guitar we're talking about here, not just some detail like a house or car. :)

Always call! I would not have gotten a 1-piece white limba body for my new Aries if I hadn't called and inquired about it. Even Chris didn't think it could be done until he talked to Jeff.

If I may,

For the peeps out there that are on the East Coast and (sometimes) work crazy hours.

If one wanted to order a guitar using the online builder and found that the particular option they wanted was not built-in to the builder, is it safe to made a request in the comments form on the order form itself?

For example,

Say I wanted to order a Bolt Plus with a Lithium bridge pickup, a Lithium single coil, and a TBH in the neck....

There is no option for that particular scenario in the builder. I don't think it would be an Option 50 because there are codes for those options (at least I think there are). I could simply order the HSS option (which is in the builder) and then make a note of which pickups I wanted.

What would be the best way of doing this if calling was not an option?

You have to call or email. Trying to get an option 50 through a builder sounds like a path to heartache.

They accept PayPal now, so getting one via email is much easier.

I did my order via email. Had pictures for reference, and it worked out well. Figured it was good to have all the ducks in a row, in writing. No chance of fraud/frog protection issues.

I'll admit its funny, but not really true.
My last four builds has multiple opt 50s, opt 51s, and all were returnable.

For example, trans black anything has no code - opt 50.
Current Carvins:
2010 Bolt (Candy Red Metallic)
2013 Bolt Plus (Koa)
2016 Black n Blue VSEVEN
2017 TT SCB6

Wish List
Some sort of multiscale 6 HSS with RAD ASH
JB Numbers Guitar (July sale has given me the itch!)

I'll build one online to get my options in order and make notes on things that may not be in the builder. Then I call in and talk to a sales advisor. They know the guitars inside and out. I know I'm going to get just what I want. I have placed the orders for all nine of my Carvins this way. (No Kiesel's yet, sorry)

Anything that isn't listed as a selectable option in the builder, but that Kiesel will do on request. The upper limit of choices has not yet been, may never be reached.

Just a few random examples:

Inlays at 12th fret only
Rear No Color
Tone knob delete

Will kiesel guitars be offering TT frets on vader and HH2 guitars ?

Can kiesel do matching wooden cavity covers at the back of guitar?

Maybe this isn't the best place to ask, so please redirect me if not.

I've ordered an Option 50 (HS pup configuration) and my order sheet doesn't specify those pickups be direct mounted, even though my sales rep confirmed this to me on the phone.

Should that sheet specify direct mount pickups as an option 50?

Which model guitar is it? If the model doesn't come that way be default, then definitely confirm.

HH2

From the website :
The HH2 comes equipped with our Kiesel Holdsworth humbucking pickups. Kiesel Guitars uses vintage plain enamel magnet wire and seasoned Alnico-5 magnets to achieve Allan's tone. Standard pickup colors are black coils and bezels

Definitely call.
Definitely get it on the invoice / build sheet.

If it comes with a bezel it'll be on you.
