New Vader Tremolo Option; Holdsworth HH2 Changes

Postby Kevio » Sat Dec 24, 2016 10:31 am

v6x-vert.jpg

Big news from the Kiesel Guitars USA Custom Shop! In response to overwhelming requests from our customers, we’ve added a new tremolo option for Vader 6, 7 and 8 string guitars. Jeff Kiesel worked extensively with Hipshot to develop the Hipshot/Kiesel Tremolo System, and we’re excited to offer this now, in advance of the official NAMM debut next month.

This new tremolo system has been many months in development, and was designed specifically with the Vader Series guitars in mind. It’s a complete floating tremolo system, and use standard, single-ball end strings – no pricey double-ball end strings required.

The Hipshot/Kiesel Tremolo System is available on 25.5″ scale 6 and 7 string Vaders, as well as the 27″ scale V8. Because of the compatibility with the 25.5″ scale, this will now be the standard scale on the V6 and V7, with the 27″ scale optional (but not available in conjunction with the new tremolo, except on the V8).

We’ve also updated the Allan Holdsworth Signature Headless HH2 model to use the same Hipshot bridge as on the Vaders, or the new Hipshot/Kiesel Tremolo System. The original JCustom bridge/tremolo used on the HH2 has been retired. Allan came to visit the new Escondido factory, and tried out a Vader with the new tremolo, and decided he wanted that on his signature model. Allan said, “The latest version of the Headless, I believe is the most flexible and versatile guitars to date. The new vibrato set up has beautiful sustain and superior pitch return along with an improved tone.” With this change, the HH2 will use the same Kiesel headpiece as the Vader, with a Graphtech nut. Additionally, the Holdsworth HH2 now has a standard solid alder body, with chambering optional.

We’re really excited to be able to offer this new tremolo system to our players who’ve been wanting a Vader, but also needed a tremolo, and for a limited time, we’re offering the new Hipshot/Kiesel Tremolo System at a special introductory price. So, if you’ve been thinking about a Vader or a Holdsworth Headless, now is the time to order, before the NAMM rush.

If I didnt just get a V220C, I'd be all over this. This was the one thing I wanted from a Vader because I NEED a trem. Now I'm super interested. Will be a LONG time though, spent too much money this year :(

Steel block

.3mm wider spacing than the j-custom on the 6, so Holdsworth pickups are now wider.

Holdsworth headless can now have direct-mount pickups, even with the optional chambering.

Strings feed just like the Vader fixed bridge (not through the back)

Beefier arm than Hipshot's Contour, with arm tension set screw

Arm is the same angle as a Floyd

Available to lefties, but no official timeline on their leadtime.

...and the video says "V6T", but it should actually be "V6X". We were originally going to use "T", but couldn't because it's being used by the Wilkie. So, the Vaders and HH guitars will both use "X" (because it's the same trem) (and now the video has been fixed).

The new tremolo will not accept double-ball end strings - just single-ball.

To be clear, the JCustom trem/bridge has been discontinued. I don't know if Jeff would still build an HH with these bridges or not - if you really wanted one, you'd have to ask.

No pics of the V7 or V8 with the tremolo yet. I'm sure they will be forthcoming.

If you could just come up with some kind of ergonomic placement for the output jack, I'd be interested in an HH.

Curious, does this mean lefties can get the Holdsworth guitars now? I feel like the J-Custom was the only reason why you couldn't.

Question I have has to do with the chambering. Is it the same or something completely different? Seems to me the chambering would have to be different considering the past pictures I've seen of the chambering of the HH1-HH2. Now since the chambering is an option rather than being standard is there an additional charge for chambering? HH2 plans have certainly been put on hold for now.

There IS an additional charge ($150) for chambering on the HH2 now. It's already in the builder.

 I see it uses the same pivot point design as the Contour. Excellent! Thanks for keeping things interesting Kiesel peeps!

I went through and saw that, so they need to rework the wording for the whole model. It lists it as "HH2 ALLAN HOLDSWORTH CHAMBERED BODY HEADLESS ELECTRIC GUITAR". With chambering being an option, it's not a chambered guitar by default. So now to get the chambering on what was once a chambered guitar originally, one would have to pay extra to get it chambered

Well, I imagine that this model, then, will be immune to the upcoming price increases, if that helps anything.

Since this is a fulcrum, I'm assuming it works with a Tremsetter? As that is also a Hipshot product, can Kiesel get a Tremsetter and install it?

Is there a heavy-arm version of the Contour in the future for non-headless models?

Vader with a trem? Long time in coming. But available in 7 and even 8 and a total redesign of the HH? Did not see that coming. Great news, provided this bridge was thoroughly tested and prototyped. Does anyone get why it wouldn't work on the 27" 6s and 7s, but works on the 8? What's the reasoning behind that? Not enough intonation room?

Just checked the builder. This is a $50 option! Way cheaper than the X trem on the HH used to be.

That $50 is temporary. I didn't catch when it would go up or where it will end up.
