So, tone report on Berylliums - I like them in every way better than lithiums, and as much as s22s. There is a great, hotter PAF kind of thing going on here, and it's an absolute blast! It sings when it needs to sing, squeals when I want it to squeal, and mellows out mighty nicely for bluesy riffing.

As per usual, the beast plays amazingly, is set up perfectly to my taste, and feels smooth as butter.

However, I'm a little bit offput by the 2v2t - my muscle memory keeps shifting my hand down to where i think the volume pot should be, only to find that, whoops, nothing happened because that's the neck pickup and i'm playing on the bridge.

I also think I should have gotten the stopbar tailpiece, and I also think I should have gotten Jumbo frets rather than medium. I'll have to play with it some more and see if I can live with those, or if I need to rebuild her, I just hate the thought of sending back such a work of art.

Such a great-looking color. Nice job on the specs! :applause:

You got used to other control locations, so you can get used to this one, right? Ha! Try using them in ways that you couldn't on a 1V/1T. For example:

- Roll back the volume on a pickup you're not using. You now have an on-board mute or a stutter effect by flicking the pickup switch.
- When playing on the neck, if it's a little too warm, put the switch in the middle and roll in a little bridge pickup to brighten it up a bit. Sort of. It's not like a magic EQ, but it's an interesting effect
- That works the other direction, too, to warm up the bridge pickup.

Also, i assume you have individual coil splitting tone knobs for each pickup, right? With 1V/1T you'd only get one by default, so you loose a bit more flexibility there. Not necessarily tones one might think of as ones you'd make your "go-to" tones, but definitely interesting ones

I'll note that all of the above was written by someone who ordered his CS6 before they added the 2V/2T option, and would still order it the same way today (me). I do realize how much more flexibility and potential there is in the 2V/2T layout though, so I think you do owe it to the guitar and yourself to put in some serious time and attention before rejecting it based on your initial immediate feelings. Use those 10 days. 8)

And, worse comes to worse I do remember one guy who ordered his CS6 with the string through Ferrules AND the stoptail, so he could decide which one he liked better. I wish I could find the thread, because it was strange and had photos (assuming they weren't hosted on PhotoBucket.

As for the stop tail, I'm sure the guitar is around 4oz lighter without it, in case that matters.

RE: Stop tail, I meant just with the 2v2t - my first Carvin was a cs6m, and I like the string through, it just feels weird with the pots where they are :D

It's a gorgeous guitar, man. 8) That's my favorite red now. :)
It would be kinda painful to send something that nice back, but you should get what you want, or you'll notice it every day.

I wish Kiesel had some better close-up photography of the metallic finishes.

Yeah, it's super cliche, but the photos really don't come close to reality here - I tried to take some that showed off how deep the CRM is. It's so nice in real life :D

I dunno, but the shine in your pics leads me to the supposition that in some sunlight, that's an astonishing color.
It looks seriously good in your pics.

Nice clip. 8)
I heard a little of that SD Custom Custom (the A2 Custom, I think) sweet upper mid strength in that tone, which isn't a bad thing at all. Or even a bit of my A2 SD Phat Cats. Not too much top end.

Nice big bubbly round sound in those final section's lead lines. Nice clip.. only thing I would have liked to have heard would be some nice full tubey cleans or "very-light-dirt" to get a sense of what kind of baseline comes out of it, say with all the tone knobs on 5. But thay was a nice melodic little piece there! 8)

1985 100 Watt X Amp 2 x 12 combo (XV212) upgraded w/ 2 Vintage 30's
...and other gear.

Hope this helps, I can do more with different tones if need be :D

The order goes SH6/CS3 back and forth, from bridge to middle position to neck each riff.

DANG it I like this guitar, it's ALMOST perfect.

Can't believe I'm just now seeing this. Really nice combination of woods & colors there with the tung oiled mahogany neck and crimson red body! Ninety-One has a cool retro vibe to it too ---- is that the year you graduated, or some other significant meaning? Happy NGD!!!
