First Kiesel-Aries (Delivered to Australia)

Postby LanceTurbo » Fri Aug 17, 2018 5:06 pm

G'day,

Seeing as though I spent so much time trawling these posts when deciding on my first guitar i felt i should stop lurking and contribute.....

I received my first Kiesel a few weeks ago and it has been nothing but a positive experience through the whole process.

My Background
1. Loungeroom warrior only. Guitar is my hobby not profession
2. Have previously owned an Ibanez RGR421EXFM and JS1600

My Kiesel Guitar
1. Aries, swamp ash top with the ash treatment, walnut body, 5 piece maple and walnut neck, ebony finger board, standard radius neck, translucent emerald green.

My Feedback
1. Deadset beautiful looking guitar. I cannot find any flaw on it
2. Very comfortable to play. Great action.
3. Sounds great. I dont have a very good ear and so i wont try to explain the sound but its different to my previous guitars..i wouldn't say better or worse but its different from them. I like that the Kiesel has a strong sound when not plugged into and amp.
4. Shipping to Oz took about a week. Arrived as forecast from day one. No issues.
5. I was nervous because i'd never seen a kiesel in real life let alone played one. Glad i took the plunge and just bought one.
6. Definitely the best guitar ive owned. Probably the best electric guitar ive played.

Lessons Learnt
1. Shipping to Oz, the Aust government now makes you pay GST and Fedex wont release the guitar until you pay the GST so add 10% AUD to the Kiesel cost. Once i paid the GST Fedex released it the same day
2. I wish i got the ability to split the coils

If you have the 3-way switch, you should also have a push/pull tone knob to split the coils.

Aren't the splitters stock? I think you get them unless you specify otherwise....give the tone a little tug... :D

With the 5 way you get the following combinations:

Neck HB
Neck inner coil
Both inner coils in series
Bridge inner coil
Bridge HB.

As JCG said, positions 2 and 4 are your split sounds then. :) No push-pull.
Great lookin Aries!

Where are you located in Australia, and yes 10% gst on orders over $1000.00, although that is changing very soon if it has not already.

I have a DCM6 build and a SC6 build currently in the workshop, did the builds blind like you, ah well, tis but money.

What made you chose the Aries and how does the neck/fretboard compare to your Ibanez guitars? did you look into an Ormsby?

Im in Sydney....the Aries neck has closer feel to the JS1600. The Aries feels slightly narrower than the JS1600 but not enough to take any getting used to for me. The RGR421EXFM had the wizard II neck so was very thin and flat.

Cant recall exactly why i chose the Aries....just liked the look I guess.

Cheers

Awesome guitar. I like the green. I got an aquaburst on mine because I like the flame maple, but the solid green looks awesome too. This is definitely a step up from your JS1600. IMO. Hope you have fun with it.
