You rock!
Awesome finish. (I'm a HUGE fan of metallic purple.) The chrome hardware is the icing on the cake. I can't wait to see it finished!

Right on! I hope you'll bear with me. It's slow going, but that's how it goes.... I did get some tung oil on the neck today. That's some good stuff....the neck is gonna be nice..... 8)

So the neck is done, anyhow....that's a nice piece of maple....almost flame maple, but not quite.

Now I'd like to finish up the body, but I might have to wait until I get back to Idaho. Meh.Image

Did you purple-ize the back of the headstock, too? Looks nifty! Like a "Kiesel Edition" headstock.

What do ya think? I figure if I decide I don't like it anymore, I'll just strip it off.

Looks great, a nice additional touch. That's a guitar you're going to very proud of.

That's the plan, man.(says the self proclaimed non-planner). Today is my birthday......This whole project is a birthday present to myself, more or less.
So I put on another coat of the purple.....it's deep....gonna look nice under some clear, then polish forever. ...

Oh, I added a pic to earlier in the thread, pre-primer.....sorry that all these pics are crappy. All I have right now is my phone, meh.

Good & bad going on....it's starting to shine, but I had to go pretty deep to "de-peel" a couple spots...opaque is kinda involved! Meh....a couple more bad pics....

Went through the color and into the primer there....behind the bridge, meh....that will not do!
Into touch up now....3 spots.....then clear coat(again) then polish it out (again) in 3 days....which really means a week.
Still having a blast, learning a stack of stuff, mostly Don't try to cut corners! And don't paint in a cave...it'll just come out looking like a cave painting.

Be careful about using water with your wetsanding. I learned the hard way and some of the holes swelled and would not go down.
I used mineral spirits in a spray bottle to wetsand after that debacle. Keep up the good work!

Indeed....I had some swell spots, but they're all small and covered by various hardware.....I got more judicious after that. Way harder than wetsanding on a car.

Waiting & curing....lacquer demands It. Stupid lacquer. Ah well, it WAS my idea. Final polish & fit in a couple days. Then assembly! :)
