Thanks! Your bass with the antique ash finish looks beautiful,

Can anyone tell me why my pictures disappeared? Is there a specific procedure I have to follow?

I think it has to do with the domain name change. I'm guessing. I put most of my pics back manually. :(

Between traveling for work and illness I picked up from traveling, there hasn't been much work done on the bass. I still need to finish sanding and polishing, but the end is in sight! I'm planning to finish this weekend and assemble it next week!

The BK40 kit I began earlier is now almost complete. I had set it aside for months while other things took up my time. I soldered the pickups in today, but I'm getting no sound from the bridge pickup, which is a humbucker. I've reviewed the schematic and as far as I can tell I've wired it correctly. Can anyone provide me with any insight? The bridge single coil jazz pickup works fine. It is a passive system.

I also can't find the screws for the cover on the back of the bass. Does anyone know what size they are?

No idea what size, but my recent BK50 kit was missing some hardware. Had to contact Chris H and he took care of me. May take a few days, but is probably easier than trying to find such a specific item locally.
Good luck and I'm looking for ward to pics.

I'm working on a new project, a 5-string bass. I don't know if I should post it here, since it is a Warmoth build and not a Kiesel kit. I've got almost all of the components to build a standard 5-string Jazz bass.

Probably best to put it in the "Other Gear" section at the bottom.
Looking forward to seeing it done!
I've cruised their offerings a few times but could never get past their higher prices.
Lots of folks love their stuff though, so it must be pretty darn good.

I am seriously considering buying a new body for my kit and starting over. When I first built this kit, I had zero experience and changed my mind and resanded the body several times. This has resulted in sanding the body roughly 1/8" thinner than when I started. Most of the radii are gone and the back cover sticks up a lot. There are lots of blemishes in the finish. I wish I had purchased a cheap kit to practice on first, but I still enjoyed the experience I gained from this and other finishing projects. I'm not sure if I want to start over with Alder or ash. I usually like the grain of ash better than Alder, but this body had a nice figure to it that I like better than some ash I've seen. Stay tuned...

I just placed the order for a new Alder body. I should get it in about 3 weeks. Depending on what the figure looks like, I may use dye again or paint it if the grain isn't that interesting.

Here it is! It's not as nice figuring as my other body, but it's OK.

I'm thinking of dying it red using the Keda dye and then sealing it with Tru Oil.

I thought I would like this color better brown Keda dye). I'm thinking of something else. I've got some Gold Angelus dye that looks nice. I'll try it next. If that doesn't look good I'll paint it or use hydrographics on it (tie-dyed).
I've been trying to post a photo, but I can't seem to do it. I've done this before, has anything changed?

Don't think the photo upload process has been changed...

I find the simplest way to upload to the forum is to just drag and drop the image straight into the post/reply box.
(also, when using Kiesel BBS to host the image, it must be smaller than 3 MB)
