NKD!

Postby OakParkMusicGuy » Sat May 28, 2016 3:42 am

My kit arrived yesterday! Looking at it I first thought I bit off more than I can chew. But it will be a fun summer project.

With the electronics, I'm not a fan of the 5-way switch so my plan is to put in a 3-way and then drill / add coil tap switches and possibly a phase switch. Any thoughts on this?

I'll finish it in plain tung oil.

And just for reference - delivery time was 7 weeks. Not a problem for me but figured some people may want to know.

Sweet! I'll bet those 7 weeks went by quickly...

You picked a nice set of specs. :applause: They gave you great grain on the swamp ash body, and I'm particularly fond of the CT headstock on the 'traditional' bolt shaped guitars. (I got that option on my incoming bolt kit, too.) Here's a pic of the bolt that got me jonesing for that headstock:

I look forward to hearing about/seeing your progress!

Thank you! I'm definitely happy with the specs and the wood they picked!

Looks great!!! Nice Swamp Ash too. I really like that CT headstock now.

I wonder why they gave you a top mount jack plate?

Good luck with your kit project!

I should have read the replies sooner! Yep they sent me the wrong jack plate. I just emailed Chris.
Funny that my only two builds had errors... My first build actually came with some upgrades I didn't order - I had wanted them but didn't order them!! So that worked out.... This one is just a jack plate error so no big deal.

Also - I'm thinking of replacing the 5 way lever with a 3 way lever and adding 2 coil tap switches and a phase switch....

If anyone has suggestions for switch placement and / or wiring diagrams that'd be awesome! I did download the Carvin / Kiesel diagrams as well as checking out the GuitarElectronics site.

Oh and I started a build thread: http://kieselguitarsbbs.com/viewtopic.php?t=47694

Thanks -

I called and the new jack plate is on its way!
As always their customer service was awesome.

I decided for the wiring I'm going to start with the default and then replace it with a 3 way lever and push pull pots. I like switches better but I'm not ready to drill holes in it just yet :)
