Kit Fretboards - are they pre-finished?

Postby Coda » Mon Jun 27, 2016 2:47 pm

I just received a Bolt kit, and the rosewood fretboard looks like it's been final sanded. Does anyone know if further sanding is needed or recommended? Or are they 'oil ready'?

Also, the online Bolt Kit instructionsmention that it's optional to put tung oil on ebony boards: It is not necessary to coat the ebony fingerboard, although it won’t hurt it. But they don't mention other woods, or whether any finish/oil/polish has been applied already. (BTW, the fret work on my neck is impeccable!)

Has anyone done further finishing on their kit fretboard? If so, what did you do? Thanks! :D

Did the Limba come out really good this time?

Thanks Skully, that's what I was thinking/hoping.

MichaelGA, yes! I really like the new body/headstock wood. I just started a new thread here that has pictures.
