BoltPlus build

Postby mayor_of_pc » Tue Jan 30, 2018 1:17 pm

Here are some pics from the BoltPlus build I did last summer. Options are standard except HSS and knobs with pearl inlays. The stain is StewMac ColorTone bright green liquid stain diluted with denatured alcohol. I used StewMac aerosol sanding sealer but the final finish has a few dimples, so if I do this again I'll use a grain filler or a harder wood than Alder. Finish is 12 coats of StewMac satin aerosol lacquer. Back of neck is finished with three coats of Formby's Tung oil.

The pickup switch is a Schaller Megaswitch E which allows for some nice pseudo humbucker combinations with the single coils and a split bridge humbucker.

Nice build! I really like how you did the color on the back of the headstock and heal of the neck.
Looks like a player to me!
Congrats and enjoy!

Killer Kit!

You got a really nice piece of alder with even grain. Cool that you went with a transparent finish. Congrats and enjoy!

That's absolute beauty!

What pickups you get in it? I think I see AP11s, so perhaps a C22B in bridge?

It has the stock HSS pickups, C22B, S60AR, S60A.
I'm considering hot rodding it with some Seymour Duncans - any other suggestions? I have Kiesel Lithiums in my CT624, so I don't need to duplicate that sound.

And thanks for all the props everyone! :D
