NAD: JCA22H!

Postby Sparky131 » Wed Sep 13, 2017 9:21 pm

Wanted one of these for a long LONG time and finally got one today. MF had an open box deal for $219 shipped to my house. Only bad thing is I won't really be able to plug it in and let it rip until the weekend.

Very nice!

The first thing I would play thru it would be a certain Queensryche song

Very cool!! How are these amps voiced in the gain department? For metal.

I keep hearing the OD is very much like a hot-rodded 800. I don't have any experience with the head yet. Played the combo version of this line at GC recently and loved it despite the stock speaker it had. Probably needs a boost to get into more modern territory. Gonna try it with a Joyo Vintage OD in front and see where it goes from there. Thought I had a boss DS-1 kicking around here somewhere that I've wanted to try, but I haven't been able to find it.

Will try to get clips this weekend.

Yep. Hot-rodded 800. Can get more gained up with a TS boost in front. I LOVE this amp.

Will probably post clips some time tomorrow.

Reamped Rose of Sharyn from the DI's on the Andy Sneap forum.

What I know about the DI's is that they were recorded with a Stinnett guitar with an EMG 89 in the bridge. An 81 in the neck coil split for the clean parts.

Signal flow: Joyo Vintage OD --> JCA22H --> Orance PPG112 Cab. Processing is a High pass at 102Hz, a low pass at 10.4kHz, and a multiband to stomp down the palm mutes.

I'd say this amp can handle metal.

Cool. I play thrash metal, so it may work with the right boost!
