![]() Pure Smut is the name of my old Jazz Band in the 80's-90's. Original songs like One Man's Search For Green Polyester Bell Bottoms ("Are there no more left in the world? Ahh, to light up the screen, with shades of green, with that deluxe ankle flair. I drive the train in style with my conked out hair.."), Bus Driver, Death Dirge (For A Diseased Dork), which was a requiem for Johnny Wadd when he died. Things like that. The name of the band came from a comment FZ had made in either Guitar World or Guitar Player when he released the SHUT UP set.. I think he was talking about his rig w the Marshall/Carvin X Amp/Acoustic triamp situation, w the preamp in his Gibson guitars, and he was saying how he could tweak the feedback frequencies based on the hall he was playing in, with "sustain for weeks," and the results were just "pure smut." Even though I don't like active EQ's in guitars, I love his tone w that SHUT UP setup during the Mars/Colaiuta/Barrow days. And the comment resonated/made me laugh hysterically. Carvin Weaponry:

Re: NGD Hagstrom Northen Series Super Swede.. SCORE!!
He he heh... it's a problem I know. The creamy burst colors really registered nicely in this shot, and caught that brownish bloody red color on the Northen's trad burst, along with that intensely flamed maple binding applied to the neck. It's just a phenomenally musical guitar, I have a 3 day weekend coming up and I'm going to put up a demo of how it sounds thru the X100B, since a long scale LP is not the most common thing. And probably the 150's M22SD dirty through the XAmp (as opposed to clean- direct like the last one) so people can hear it in the guitar/scale length it was designed for, and how incredibly thick it is. What's also most interesting on the Northen is when it splits, it sounds more like a Tele than a strat. Which makes sense based on the build style. Over the past few months using it, and recognizing those hallmarks, it's killed much of my Baja Tele GAS. I also might have a nice surprise acquisition coming up if all goes according to plan. Like your collection, it will slot into a guitar type not represented in my collection. (actually I think I've mentioned it already, it's a mint vintage mid-70's Viking with those incredible humbuckers) Having trouble putting together the bread for that Carr... it's a pain inna GAS actually, being so expensive. So my will gives way, weakling I am. Carvin Weaponry:

Re: NGD Hagstrom Northen Series Super Swede.. SCORE!!OK, this is just because I never ever post anything here I've played in case I do die or something [??]] . . . NOT because I think this is an amazing piece worthy of web presentation!
Fact is, I don't write my own music anymore and I don't do covers so I don't record. But, though shorter and a bit different, Jon Bollinger did a similar riff testing out the SD P-rails so I thought I'd compare the P-rails to these awesome Spiced Ps. You can hear the "spice" at least. Unfortunately, this was my Hag just into my little Blackstar Core Micro-amp on the Crunch setting with my Iphone5 sitting about 2 feet away recording the sound, shooting a video of my coffee table. Sent the file to my PC, stripped off the audio, posted it. Since my knuckles are so swollen now, I used my ring finger slide on my pinky which was too long and a bit loose so you can hear I'm struggling to control it and I am COMPLETELY overloading the Mic on my old Iphone5. I could record this exactly the same on my new 7plus ![]() At least you can tell I can play a guitar . . . after all this time? Well, let's not get carried away, Garth. It's almost playing! A near miss? ![]() https://soundcloud.com/user-652954147/s ... gs/s-aPN9A Let me know if you have problems listening? This is my first Soundcloud.

Re: NGD Hagstrom Northen Series Super Swede.. SCORE!!Hmmh, I think it might have been locked [??].
Try it again at your leisure . . . If I get this to work, I may actually record something decent . . . ![]()
Re: NGD Hagstrom Northen Series Super Swede.. SCORE!!Worked for me this time too.
Sounds like you were working those fantastic bridge pickups, so fat and wicked sounding. I just posted btw on that Vanquish p90 thread a link to a demo of Lundgren P90s in a Gibson gold top. Sounds fantastic, sounds like a blend between these awesome Super Swede 3 x P90-S, and my Special. Beautiful legit p90 tones. Carvin Weaponry:

Re: NGD Hagstrom Northen Series Super Swede.. SCORE!!Yup, anyway, one of the reasons I wanted to spec out a low fret slide guitar, maybe headless just to be different, is that [WITH AN APPROPRIATELY FITTING SLIDE] there would be lots of days when I'm not like um dead that I could still play when my lupus hands won't otherwise allow much fingering. But, obviously, I haven't slid much . . . work in progress!
