It's been hovering around 9-11 weeks for a while. Must be catching up, or perhaps yours is an easy build.

When I ordered a few weeks ago I was told to expect ten weeks.

Tomorrow marks 15 weeks for me...

I don't want to be the annoying person who calls to ask for an update but it gets more and more tempting each day.

The "Current estimated build time" that you find at various places on the site has always been pretty accurate for me. All of my builds have shipped within that timeframe or less than a week either side of it...

Yup. I heard that the SD pickups were backordered so that probably has something to do with it, but I didn't have any option 50s and I don't have Jeff working on it so I'm not sure what the hold-up is. :(

Glad I checked in and saw I wasn’t only one. Today is eight weeks for me, so far. Longest wait of any Carvin I’ve ordered and this one didn’t even have any option 50s! Ah well, back to playing with other toys...

Mine has a bunch of Option 50`s but a very simple design. It doesn`t get much simpler. So I am hoping close to 8 weeks for mine but not expecting exactly. I`ve waited up to year before for a custom Jackson so 8-10 weeks isn`t horrible.

I'm at 9 weeks as of today. Wondering if I will get an email at least when it ships. Watching the facebook page too to see if I see it.

Will I know it is coming at all or just find it one day when I get back home? Given the price I'd hope I would know it was coming so I could make sure I am there to get it. I want to track it as it crosses the country.

Thought I’d let everyone know, she was delivered today. Ordered Jul 13, 2017, received Sep 26, 2017. Was shipped Sep 21, 2017. So mine was 70 days from ordering (internet) to shipment. It’s nothing special, VB4, Walnut neck/body, Zebrawood fingerboard, w/active electronics and low/wide frets.

Hope this helps some of you that are waiting...

Only notice I got was from a “Trackingupdate@fedex.com”. Nothing directly from Kiesel telling me it shipped, though I’m sure it’s linked to when they gave FedEx the package.

Right. As I understand it, Kiesel/Carvin doesn't send direct shipping notices. Go to fedex.com and sign up for Delivery Manager, or whatever it's called. You can have them send you email notices and also can reschedule your delivery.

Kiesel partners with FedEx to handle that communication, just as they did before with UPS. Kiesel doesn't send it. The difference is that where it seems about 25% of the people don't get the emails from FedEx, 95% seemed to not get them from UPS.

I don't get what's so hard, though, about sending 20 "Congratulations, your order has shipped! Here is your tracking number." emails a day from Keisel.

I agree, spudmunkey. Most other online retailers send me "Your order has shipped" emails.

It's an example of the larger/macro area of relative weakness they have. It's been identified for many years off and on. I'll see if I can get it into just a few words.

In short, they excel at the intersection of two things: INPUTS TO THEM and THEIR BUILD PROCESS. Anything that sits in that area of overlap is a focus of prioritized attention. Their strengths are from the inside, out. For example, one area of focus/emphasis is from the perspective of getting the order right, and getting the build right.

Downside: It seems like their relationship with the outside world is largely conceived of, and framed from, the perspective of just that area of strength and concern. And it seems all of their areas of relative weakness, by comparison, seem to be so unconsciously, rather than on purpose. If you consider OUTPUTS TO THE WORLD and OUR CUSTOMER PROCESS, and anything that sits in that area of overlap, and start to generate functions they complete in either of those, and in the overlap, you will identify areas of their performance that are areas of relative weakness, compared to their strengths.

One axiomatic phrase we've heard from them over the years typifies this exact thing: "We build guitars, not websites."
