Burl Club(when nothing else will do)

Postby shadowseve » Sat Jul 07, 2012 6:10 pm

I didn't see this club already. Hopefully I'll be able to edit this in about two weeks with my own dc800. I'm wanting to see some beautiful burl action going on.

LETS GET IT STARTED IN HERE!!!

This thing is flat out iconic. I've been admiring it for a while now trying to get my thoughts together on it. I really like the way it showcases what a bold color can do over Burled Maple. We should see more like this frankly. With tops like Burl, Spalt, Koa it seems like a natural finish is the typical 'safe' way to go, but in the back of my mind I am wishing I could see them with colors. It's the kind of thing that might make me second-guess myself, even with the return policy. This design totally delivers the visualization. Thank you Kuhboom for having the huevos to actually special order this sucker and go where no Carvinite has gone before!

I agree with that, except for the koa. I don't think there are many translucent colors that could really compliment koa's grain like something could with burl or spalt. And it's kind of a dark wood, so staining it with a color might just kind of cover up that awesome grain, you know?

I would LOVE to see some more colored burl, though! :applause:

Thanks Bovine! This guitar is definitely the jewel in my guitar collection right now.

Me too. A light baby blue would look fantastic over burl.

Hmm Kuhboom man I don't think people are really into your guitar or anything. :P Kidding.
I've seen blue over burl and it was very interesting. I've seen black stain burl (looked like granite/marble) I've also seen red stain on burl before that was cool.
