Is that a lefty bigsby ?

Did you install it yourself?

My apologies for not replying tot his earlier. I just saw this post. Yes it is a lefty bigsby and i installed it with a vibramate. So it was a very fast process and does not require any drilling to set up. And of course you can remove it if you ever decided you no longer want to use a bigsby and your guitar will have no marks 8).

Did these awhile ago, posted in order of ownership.
And a FOURTH to be added this year; gonna be a long-scale 7-string 8) so I'll be lurking again/occasionally :ninja:

Hi everyone. I'm new to the board and since I'm a lefty I thought I'd make my first post here on a thread about left handed Carvin's. I own 3 guitars and sadly I'm just now discovering Carvin. My fourth guitar will most certainly be a Carvin but I'm having trouble narrowing down my choice. I really like the CT6M and the DC127 but I don't really know enough about the guitars to know which would be better for me. I'm mostly a rhythm player and prefer playing classic rock I grew up with like AC/DC, Blackfoot, Bad Company, ZZ Top, etc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Both are good choices.

They both have the same scale, can both come in the same woods and have the same pickups.

The main difference will be that the DC127 has a flatter top (like most Strats, Jaskcon or Ibanez RG style guitars) and is a neck-through, while the CT is a carved top (like a Les Paul or most PRS guitars) with a set neck.

The neck-through DC127 gives you unparalleled upper fret access and 24 frets. The DC127 also gives you the option to add active electronics. Normal guitar controls only cut volume or certain frequencies. You start at 10 and roll back to zero. the active electronics allow you to cut AND boost, so its's like 10 is the center point, and you can go down to 0, or up to 20. I believe you can also add the piezo option, which is an acoustic-like sound. I would say, though, that with the list of artists in your posts, you'd be fine without the actives unless you really wanted the piezo. The nice thing with this system from Carvin is that the pickups are still passive, so you can swap any 4-wire passive pickups since the active preamp is in the control cavity; not in the pickups. The DC127 also can handle more custom added switches, like if you wanted, say, a kill switch, or one switch for each pickup to coil-split, etc. the CT doesn't really allow for more switches.

The CT6 is no slouch with upper fret access, but it's also only 22 frets. This also means, though, that the neck pickup is 2-frets-further from the bridge, so you get a bigger difference between it and the bridge pickup. There also is a 24 fret version (CT6-24' I think).

I'll let others chime in on the tonal differences, as I only have one Carvin Cs6, but there are a few users who have both types of guitars. I know Elfdude has a CT4 and a dc135, so hopefully he sees this thread!

Hmm...weird...can any knowledgeable southpaws answer me this: why does the actives and piezo option go away on the DC127 when I change to left-handed, when it can be had on the DC400, and the actives can be had on a left-handed JB model?mis this a known unavailability, of a builder error?

Well, with the help of Keith at Carvin I made my choice and we went through the process of building my guitar on paper. I'm getting the CT6M with all the bells and whistles. I'm as excited as a kid on Christmas day. Now all I have to do is sell a kidney to cover the remaining balance I owe within the next 2 months. lol. Hopefully, 2 months from now I'll be posting pics of my dream guitar right here on this lefty thread. Thank you to Keith and Carvin!

I've been told that the only good thing about having left handed guitars is that no one wants to steal them. I've seen a few here that make me think otherwise. :ninja:

And my newest addition ... up close and personal ... it's great!
