DC Lovers Club 2.0

Postby Hawt400A » Fri Mar 08, 2013 6:20 am

Through a stroke of good fortune, I have an amazing, highly customized, DC400A on its way to me. Were I to buy new right now, I would end up with a hot-rod DC127. Regardless, there was never any question that I would end up with a DC series guitar.

It's about the neck-thru. The stability and sustain the neck-thru offers have been like a siren song for me. When I compare a nice DC series guitar to a Gibson, it's apparent that for $1500 or so, you can get a DC series that has specs that are far superior to a Les Paul Deluxe.

Pardon my blasphemy! You have to spend $3,000 and up to get into a Les Paul Deluxe whereas $1500 gets you a nicely loaded DC series guitar. With a few exceptions, you have to buy a Deluxe to get an ebony fretboard from Gibson while it's standard on a DC. Of course, with the Les Paul you get a set neck versus the neck-thru DC series guitar.

I have to post now for I'll be busy playing when my guitar gets here... :)

I'm a bit nervous - I need to level my Floyd Rose. It seems that after I changed the strings it sits a bit higher which raises the action. I'm guessing that it had .009s on it since this happened after I put .010s on it.

I read up on it - the procedure should be pretty simple.

1 - Unlock the nut locking clamps
2 - Detune the strings way flat
3 - Turn the trem screws a couple of turns in
4 - Retune, check the level and repeat 1 - 3 if needed

It's not that far out - the strings are about 2mm further from the pickups then they were with the old strings. When I do this, I'm just going to do one full turn on the screws to start. I'd rather go through more than once rather than go too far in a single shot.

I think it just says DC Lovers, no charter was ever drawn up to specify whether or not the 7xx or 800's weren't allowed as far as I know lol
