SB5000 heavier strings

Postby SisterAbdullahX » Mon Dec 26, 2016 3:29 am

Seasons Greetings from the UK!
I've owned my ash/maple SB5000 for 6 or so years now and love it as much now as I did when I first got it. I've always restrung it with the Carvin La Bella nickels, .40 to .128. However, since I can't get these anymore I've decided to go with DR Fat Beams as I like the higher tension feel they give. I have them on my Fender CIJ Jazz and really like them. They are slightly heavier gauge .45 to .105 so just wondered if anyone on here had changed to heavier strings/Fat Beams on their SB5000 and how they are getting on with them? Obviously I know a set up will be required but just wanted to know how the SB necks take to the heavier strings.
