Further lament ... (I HAVE to vent, sorry)

I just d/l'd all of my PB pix to my machine ... ONE AT A TIME!!!!
They had an album d/l function ... didn't work, or maybe I had some sort of blocking in place???
PLUS - all of the incessant ad popups while I was trying to get thru that! GAH!!!

Next step - upload all of that to my domain and edit all of my html links to rename all of the dir references.
Still would not fix any old posts and links. I wonder if Kev can do a mass update to rename any of my PB directory refs to my new domain directory (when I get it there)? Both here and the Museum? That would go a long way to fixing any pic references I've made online. But why should they have to do that in the 1st place?!?!?!

Carry on ...

Altho there is a fix ... just copy all of the pix (background too) to my domain, and then update ALL of my web pages!!
I probably have the space, but I just don't have that time anymore. ... 1 day ...
And my dog pix wont show up unless you go to their site / my folder.
Oh well. :x

Sorry to beat this ...
I just saw their plans. At 1st I saw the $60 a year (still too much $$), but that doesn't get you squat, other than 52GB, and I'm only using 1% of 2 GB right now!! You need the $400/yr for 3rd party ... GAH!!
Also, its 1 thing to find the time and copy the pix to my domain ($10 per year - att global, 10GB I think, all I need for my own HTML pages) and update my web pages ... its all the posts here and the Museum where I point to those pix!!!!!

My sentiments exactly. How screwed up is their business model if they have to jump from $0 to $400 in one fell swoop. Where were the $8/mo and $14/mo incremental steps? that I might have actually considered?

I think my domain is back in bidness!! As far as I can tell anyway. And it was more than just a bit tedious.
PB seemed to d/l all of my files (and hence got uploaded) as ".GIF" or ".JPG" and all my links in the html were lower case ".gif" and ".jpg". So, naturally all of my uploaded domain pix were unfound, at first. I had to manually rename ALL of those files!!
Then do the d/l, edit, rename-all, upload the changes dance. I am just sick.
But its done (I think). *YAY* :applause:
(And NO ADs!!!!! )

Update - I even went thru quite a few NGD Museum threads and fixed those. I also fixed a few NGDs of mine here.

Okay. I've never posted any photos. I went to imageshack and saw "Sign up for free account". Is it that simple? Any risk?
Do you upload photos to the host and then drag to your post on the bbs?

Once posted to your host, you need to know the link to the photo, then post that link between image tags. No copying necessary.

Code: Select all

extra "enter" between pic links (to ease scrolling)
[img]your-pic-link[/img]
extra "enter" between pic links (to ease scrolling)

ex - (not exactly, but in general ...)
[img]http://my-domain-pic-root/dir-path/pic-filename.jpg[/img]

Thanks. I haven't dove into it yet, but have a new bass coming (in seven long weeks) and will be required to post pics of it, right?

You can try a few test pix posted to imageshack now, and see how they provide the URL. You can always right click and either view Properties or "copy image location". Then put the url in your web browser. If you can see it there, you should be able to link to it here. (Unless there is a size issue - in which case use some basic pic editor to resize the pixels, keeping the current "aspect" so it doesn't "squish".)
