I opened a imgur account after the whole Photophuckit debacle, I agree with you about the social aspect of the site, but I can deal with it since it is free, but I've only used the app a couple times so far. I can't figure out how to get the correct links to post from my phone or to edit the upload size like you can from the website, if it is even possible. The website works great though.

Also--what about Imageshack? I used to use them a lot for posting screen captures when I posted quite a bit on cinema forums and private trackers for old avant garde flicks.

I feel like I haven't used them in a decade. I know it hasn't been that long, but I do remember auto-playing video ads...which Photobucket has done for a while, but because i was already "invested" heavily in PB's use, I accepted it there when they started . No idea if they actually still do it...but may give them a shot.

edit: i see now that it's only free for 30 days, then at least $38/year. Which isn't terrible (1/10th Photobucket's lowest tier), but it's not free. I'm one of those who has never once paid for an app that wasn't work work. Sit through a 30 second commercial to be able to continue playing the game for free? No problem. Have a 1/4" banner on the bottom of my special calculator? No problem!

It looks like PB is slowly killing everybody's links, I saved every pic I wanted to keep to my phone and Google Drive. They wouldn't even let me save directly to my Drive, I tired but all images were that stupid 3rd party hosting pic. I downloaded everything I wanted to keep and then deleted off PB and closed my account. Bye bye Photosuckit.

No problem, I hated their slow site, but just used them because I had an account for so long. I used their app the most recently to upload pics, I was hoping they would have a change of heart. It's too late for me either way.

My whole personal site is built on linking to my p/bucket pix.
I still see those pix when I link, but they might all be cached??
I think even my sig is one. If that all blows up, sux big time (lets see
if the sig pic works...)

The message I got specifically mentioned that I passed some threshold. They may turn a blind eye until you pass a certain MB per month or something. It's possible that every time I refresh this page, that it's eating into your limit before your links get broken.

I tend to chop my pix down before I upload ... the max dimension is typically 1024 pixels, so maybe I'll fly under the radar?
We'll see. But, yeah, ... , no, ... botophucket!! new name!

The move they made is incredibly dumb--asking such an extreme high amount of money from people.. they're just going to die the death, and likely faster rather than slower. And places like imgur and cube will have thrived and earned loyalty.

For me cubeupload is fine, even though mobile usage could be a tad better and the mobile app is bizarre. I like the humble act of asking for donations if you enjoy using the app-- but not forcing you to pay. (at least not yet.)

For the time being, most of the images that are on Floatophuckit are on a phone or tablet, so I'm not worried about DLing them back.

Are there any other hosting options (I'm kind of backward in this department...)? I've often wondered why this Kiesel forum doesn't enable direct photo inserts. Is their server too small or just antiquated software?

?? I'd just mentioned in that very post that I use cubeupload. You can create an (optional) account but I don't believe it's mandatory. (I did, since you can track your library)

Fees are via "Please donate as you wish if you find us useful!"

Nope. It's just redesigned with the last forum update. it's now below the text box, and they are considered "attachments". You can attach a photo and it shows up at the end (small, but you can click for a larger version), then you can also hit the "place inline" button that puts it in line with the post text.

Thanks for the instructive guidance, spudmunkey. It's usually obvious once you know what to look for! I would probably have never associated attachments with pictures. It just shows how conditioned we become to preconceptions and patterns of past thinking.

Only reason I knew that is because I saw another forum update to this same version, and they had the same thing. otherwise it likely would have taken me a while until someone showed me!

It happened ... personal web site killed by bootophucket!
Altho there is a fix ... just copy all of the pix (background too) to my domain, and then update ALL of my web pages!!
I probably have the space, but I just don't have that time anymore. ... 1 day ...
And my dog pix wont show up unless you go to their site / my folder.
Oh well. :x

Sorry to beat this ...
I just saw their plans. At 1st I saw the $60 a year (still too much $$), but that doesn't get you squat, other than 52GB, and I'm only using 1% of 2 GB right now!! You need the $400/yr for 3rd party ... GAH!!
Also, its 1 thing to find the time and copy the pix to my domain ($10 per year - att global, 10GB I think, all I need for my own HTML pages) and update my web pages ... its all the posts here and the Museum where I point to those pix!!!!!
