Customs procedures for getting instruments to Germany

Postby Flying Koala » Sat Nov 18, 2017 11:34 am

Hi All,

I have pressed now the Order -button couple of weeks ago and I'm actively waiting for my first Kiesel to arrive.

Is here anybody who has ordered from Kiesel to be delivered to Germany?

How are the customs procedures, does FedEx do everything for you or do you need to go to some ZollAmt with all fancy papers?

My German is not too good so I would definitely prefer the first option :)

Also, does anyone happen to know what courier company is the one delivering the parcels in Beriln area?

My experiences of receiving parcels especially with DHL are not that encouraging, but I hope my Kiesel will find its way to me when the time comes.

Thanks for the quick reply. Checked quickly the videos, only thing I found there that in 2015 at least German customs had arranged a delay for his instaruments to arrive :)

I assume there are several guitars imported yearly to Germany from USA, but every hint what might make the process smoother are welcome.

Anyway, it might be the most annoying time to know that the guitar is so close but eg. in the hands of customs :)

In case somebody bumps in this message, I got an answer to this.

The trick to get the import done smoothly is to send an email to de-import@fedex.com once you have the email from FedEx that your shipment has been picked up. Subject should be only the tracking number.

The text field should indicate that the shipment is private shipment and the receiver will compensate all of the pending customs costs and taxes.

Also it should be mentioned that the driver will be paid on delivery (ROD - Reimbursement on delivery).

Then it is just refreshing the tracking page and waiting (with cash) the driver to arrive.

For me it has taken only 3 days for the shipment to arrive - Got the email on the night between Monday and Tuesday and the driver was at my door on Friday morning.
