New used PB5 bass. Bridge upgrade

Postby lateralus819 » Tue Oct 01, 2019 9:09 am

Hello all,

I recently purchased a use PB5 Carvin bass. Looking to change the chrome hardware to gold. They don't offer bridges on the website apparently. Is there a way to upgrade this or is this a "Carvin" only bridge?

Thanks,

You should be able to get compatible hardware from Hipshot. Just make sure you get something that matches the mounting screws.

While they don't have the bridge online, they can sell many of their parts if you call.

I called and he seemed like because it wasn't online it wasn't available. Albeit I didn't press the issue.

should I call back?

I would. Kieth is their bass guy, if I remember correctly.

i've seen even kiesel employees tell people online to call in because not all available parts are listed online, and to call. I'd say it's worth one more shot, since it's a 100% direct replacement.

So I called back and talked to Keith (Who is actually who I had when I purchased my CT-7 a few years ago. The guy is amazing. I remember calling him at LEAST 3 times to change specs and he was cool everytime).

Ordered all new gold hardware for the bass.

Bought a used PB-5 off Guitar center for what I'd say is a steal. Has the Jazz pickup configuration, no pickguard. Birdseye neck with seafoam green paint. Will look amazing!!

Wait...PB5 without a pickguard? Do you mean JB5, or could it be that you got a B50? I could be wrong, but I don't believe they offer a rear-routed PB.

edit: oh, and BTW: they've tightened up on changes since your CT7 days. Just know that if you buy new, there are basically no changes once the order is placed.

It is definitely a PB5. It's front routed for J-Pickups. According to the GC website it is a 2015 model which is about right as it's a Carvin.
