My Grabber Blue Story:
I have been waiting for "This Kinda" Blue since......... forever.

My dad had a 1969 VW Bus in Grabber Blue (or very simular - close enough to get sued by Ford ). It may have been my "Hippie Dad's" big secret (24 in 1969 - I were 4) .
I think he really wanted a 1969 Grabber Blue Mustang. But to keep up the hippie image he painted the VW Bus in the same color as the 1996 Grabber Blue Mustang, and kept on dreaming behind the wheel....... More Peace and Love in the back of a VW Bus, I guess

.... And with two screaming babies in the back of the VW Bus woke up soon enough to keep us on the road, he he :D

So this has been my fav color through my childhood, and later, Blue of different shades have always been my fav color.

I just had to have a Grabber Blue Carvin (or Kiesel of corse)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the KL12B/N PU's and stuff, I will return for more info, comparisons etc. But I 'll have to give it a great run through all my amps and stuff (busy days in my studio I guess ).

Enjoy for now :D

Ahhhhwwwwweeeeesssssssooooooommmmmmmeeeee!

You got it buddy! This is a very clean looking guitar, even the fret board has been wiped clean of any inlays but it's nicely decorated with lots of birds eye. The DC127 is a tone machine and I'm betting this one sounds crazy good with the new Kiesel's on it. I'm stoked for you Bredo, she is a beauty. This will definitely keep you motivated to pickup the guitar 4 or even 5 times a day ... you do have lots of amps to test it on

Happy NGD buddy.

Cheers,

Grabber

Great looking guitar to add to your brood.
My only personal change would've been some cream and black zebras perhaps.

Congrats! I hope you have more time to play this one.

BM = My intials yes

Even though I ordered a plain maple fretboard, there are a nice amount of "eyes" in it. Just a bit plainer, as intended.

The guitar is 100% top notch, have the playability like a Carvin always has, and are of known Kiesel/Carvin quality.

I will make a PU description/review in a seperate thread. But in short:
Through some amps it surprised me on the positive side, and through some amps it plain out dissapoined me. I will come back with a list of Amps vs KL12B/N's, how I do think they work (or not).
I have about 10 different amps in my studio right now (not all mine), and will have access to a couple more when/if I need it.

Thanks guys, for kind words :D

Very clean indeed and glad to hear that you're dialling in some good tones after your initial disappointment with the K12.

Gorgeous guitar! :applause: :applause: :applause:

And just so's you knows, "BM Grabber" would mean something totally different here in the states, BM being short for "Bowel Movement"

There is not a dam thing I don't like about that guitar. I do hope the pups match the guitar in expectations. After reading your story I thought the BM might stand for Blue Mustang. And thanks to Moose for ruining the moment.

Well before starting to dial in some tones, I had to do two things:
Lower the PU's more than any other PU I ever had. So do NOT be afraid to lower it to much.

And on all amps I have tried so far, I have backed off the presence control more than I am used to with any other PU.

I will investigate some more, but for now it seems to work best in either clean (to some breakup) on Fender, Vox/Matchless type amps. Or in "All In" high gain setting/amps like the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier (actually close to very good).

I have so far not liked it with Marshall type amps (a JCM800 50w reverb model ++). My biggest dissapointment, as these kinds of amps are my "land" (70's-80's Rock'n'Metal).

But I am used to deliver guitar sounds to clients in every style and sound, so the KL12B will definitively add "something" to my PU/sound arsenal.
The neck KL12N PU, well.......... I do think is as mediocre as can be. This seems to only work in clean settings no matter the amp IMO.

I will keep them in there for now, but I have a set of M22SD/M22V (in cream) to put in there if I so need.

PS. Strangely enough the KL12B is working the best with one of Avid's own amp models in the Eleven Rack (DC Modern 800), go figure, as this is supposed to be in the Marshall land.
Both direct, and through a poweramp and a 4x12 cab (Legacy V30's).

Well enjoy the pis for now, and I will return with some PU vs Amp findings later (in a seperate thread).
