Tune Carvin AC50 with LaBella standard string set to E A D G C ?

Thanks for reading. :D

I have a Carvin AC50 acoustic ~34" 5 String Bass, walnut face, mahogany body, maple and mahogany laminated neck (runs full length of instrument),

NECK FEELS PRETTY STURDY.

LaBella Perfectly Balanced Sets (Nylon Coated Tape Wound, nice on fingers).
760N-B | .060 .070 .094 .115 .135 with standard tuning to tuned to B E A D G

I play unplugged at night when others are asleep.

The AC50 and Tape Wound Strings have many nice qualities, :applause:

But to get to issue.......

The A D G Strings feel tight enough, intonation is good, unplugged volume is good for purpose (with pick or long nails).
The E string feels Loose and Floppy, intonation gets bad as you go up neck, volume is too low.
The B STRING has same problems (as E) but MUCH WORSE. You can pull B sideways off neck.
:naughty:

low B string, intonation is pretty bad and feel is Too Loose / Floppy.
Higher up neck (towards bridge), worse low B intonation gets. Even up the neck, the low B string volume is still pretty poor think tightening might help volume.

I think if E was thicker and B was even more thicker / tighter, it would help (but thicker might buzz frets). So the perfectly balanced strings may be part of problem.

Yes plugging in helps with volume, but Low B still sounds weak.
Changing strings is always nice, never free, lot of work; and does NOT solve problem.

Looking for no cost solution (that might help) / Question(s): :?:
1. How tight can I make standard AC50 string set?
a. The B and E feel like they could be tuned all the way up to and E (from B) and A (from E); BUT,
b. The A D G already have good tightness feel and fear they make break if tightened too much.
c. Also, could I damage neck or tuning pegs, if I tighten strings?
2. Has anyone ever tuned an AC50 with standard string set to E A D G C ?
3. Has anyone ever tuned an AC50 with standard string set up above B E A D G?

I know LaBella makes a six string set, but there are many bad reviews on high C string being too thin and I do not wish to alter nut to make slots smaller.

Otherwise, nice instrument.
Be nice to have the higher notes.
Think AC50 might sound and feel better if tuned to E A D G C.

Wish a tech at Kiesel with assess to an AC50, would try E A D G C with standard LaBella 760N-B | .060 .070 .094 .115 .135 and keep us posted.

Well you're gonna have to do some nut work because tuning a 135 to E is going to give you such high tension I don't think you'll like it.

I guess to elaborate further, I would have a luthier or workshop fit a new nut to fit a 105, 80, 60, 40, 30 nut for it so you can tune it like a 6 string minus the low B.

Thanks, I do not want to sink more $ into AC50. Also, E string has problem as well, think strings need to be tighter. Just wish to know if anyone has done it without damaging instrument or breaking strings. I feel like he Low E and Low B strings can be tightened up without breaking, they are pretty loose, floppy, I feel like other strings might break, also wonder about strain on pegs or neck.

You're not alone when you think 34 inches is too short for a low B. Like I said I'd just string it up like a 6 string minus the low B. The tension won't hurt that neck.
