I was just toying around with an idea and came up with my own personal fantasy Carvin model ... The double cutaway SH55O Alex Lifeson signature model .. which I would name " La Strangiato"
And even if Carvin was too design one I doubt if they could get Alex Lifeson onboard ... but he was a Carvin endorser back in the day and you wont know until you ask or just build one and present him with the guitar.
They already have some very high profile players already with signature models . Allan Holdsworth ... I mean come on ... this man is beyond legendary !!! The T-Mac .. The Bunny Brunel series basses ... etc
Of course it would have to be in classic white and have mother of pearl inlays just to keep it a little truer to his old 355( a bound neck would be a classy feature as well) but I think it would look great in just about any option that Carvin currently offers.
Ok thus ends the fantasy part of the thread ... lol
The reality part is why not a double cutaway semi hollow body ?
Classic good looks matched with Carvin's superior build and quality ... sign me up !!!
And without the f-holes
No f-holes with pickguard .. ( not the best photo shop but you get the idea )

Alex has already said he tried the Bigsby on his Les Pauls and they weren't responsive enough for him. It would have to have a Floyd or a newly designed Carvin trem!
But, man...those look awesome! I would like to have ye'ole DC SH guitar myself!

I hear ya on the Bigsby but I liked that picture due to the fact that it had gold hardware .. With or without (preferably with) it does look pretty sweet .
I was talking to someone in customer service about this post and when he got to the page I heard a loud ... " wowwww !!! " .. lol
So I guess at least one person at Carvin likes it ...

Very interesting. Here's a challenge for your imagination. I really like your idea, but i kinda like the upper horn to be a little longer, makes the balance when slung on a strap a little better.
What would that look like with sort of a CT6 upper horn. Could be really cool.
Your good with that Photoshop thing!!

Too muckletone ... The reason I photoshopped them like that was they're an Alex Lifeson inspired shape ... but here's what it would look like with a CT upperhorn ... it's alright I guess , a little like the PRS semi's but I'd have the horns uniformed .. classic style

Hi 1Gearmadman, very good. You are quite the artist!, i think you are on to something with the classic double cutaway. After playing my SH550, they would have to do something to help the balance when taking away.
But i agree, a straight away clone of the CT horn isn't great, but who knows, maybe something inbetween, something very Carvin. I have learned one thing already, Carvin instruments don't need to "like" anyone other maker, they are that good.
Thanks for humoring my imagination. Carvin needs to work with you on this new model.

i was just thinking Carvin needs a smaller bodied semi hollow or at least a DC one. if you shrunk that giant circle body that horn would look great on it. i think the Carvin SH575 (i hope thats what its called) its great feature wise but the thing is a mammoth especially with that top rounded "horn?" area. They need something smaller like a Gibby 339 (with a painted on f hole option)

Oh, and just to steal your thunder (sry), here is my fantasy Carvin:
It's a fantasy becuase Carvins credit application hates me. I was going to order it tomarrow, but, well, you know. I guess its just a fantasy for about 2 months ...then it will become reality.

I'm thinkin Johnny A. sig model here. Love Alex but I'll take this Johnny A. Carvin model right here. !!! Now !
Body shape wise that would balance out like a Johnny A, with a upper horn you can put a strap button on ! (no likey strap buttons on back )
I WANT ONE !

not the best of my photoshoping skills but it shows how much cooler a smaller body is if only i could shrink up the horns right too.

I remember the 335 white guitar. What a beauty. When I saw the white 335, I knew I had to have at least one white guitar.

If we keep this thread going maybe someone at Carvin will take notice and with fingers crossed they'll design a double cutaway SH

1GearMadMan, when you put all of them together, the ones I liked best were the last three, they were totally sick! Dude I think you are good enough to be a guitar designer; these really would be a great addition to the Carvin catalogue. I too, hope that Carvin sees this thread, and if you need me to sign a petition or sumpin, let me know! Kickass Idea; Thumbs Up!
P.S. If Carvin would actually build these, they can put me on the preorder list right now for the second one from the bottom, the green one.

Thanks amaze but I cant take all the credit here . I didn't realize when I did this that someone else already posted some photoshopped pics with the same idea .. I believe it was Spudmonkey ... if not I apologize but hey .. great minds think alike right ? .. lol
I really would like to keep this thread going because if we didn't request different models we'd never get any , and I do hope that Carvin will recognize the demand for a double cut away and put their awesome talents to the task of designing one. That'll be one happy day for a lot of us.
Thanks again 122 !
